Awakening by Nora Roberts

This was a pretty cool video to create. The cover was a picture of Philadelphia in the future, and a curved forest hovering above and a golden hue to the sky. I wanted to try and create something to morph into the cover, this was a cover reveal.

The hardest thing, was the curved forest, but it actually wasn’t too bad to create. I found some stock footage of a camera panning over a forest, which provided movement, and a consistent pattern of treetops. I then warped the forest until I felt it was in a good place, creating an arch over the top of the video. I softened the edge of the forest with a feathered mask.

The forest created a tunnel-like space that made it natural for the copy to emerge from, offering a perspective over the city.

The shot of the city is from the actual cover, which makes it much easier to morph to. The logo was recreated using an animated mask, revealing the dragon from head to tail, while maintaining the loop through the text.

Add some dramatic music to give it the command it needs and it really builds into a nice trailer.
